O&O Defrag Professional Review
Disk defragmentation made easy
You can buy it at RegNow for that price.
Fast and easy to use, does a great job on minimizing the Windows boot time and the I/O operations.
Consumes too much CPU power
As we all know, Windows already has an integrated defragmenter, made in cooperation with the company that today produces Diskeeper. The native Windows defragmenter is somehow a stripped-down version of diskeeper, with allmost no features. Is this tool suitable for optimizing your drives? Let me answer to this question: NO, it's not. Let's see why: First, the Windows defragmenter does not optimize the MFT (Master File Table). This means the boot time will allways be the same and it will increase with the pass of time. A defragged MFT can offer performance gains in load times of folder views, programs and files. By contrast, O&O Defrag does this in a very short time, with the price of taking too much CPU resources.
O&O Defrag comes with a handy set of defragmenting options, allwing you to choose how the data will be (re)arranged on the disks. These options are:
- Stealth
- Space
- Complete/Name
- Complete/Modified
- Complete/Access
The Stealth option is designed for use on PCs with large files and little free space, the Space method is designed for heavily fragmented drives, while the other 3 sort the files in alphabetical order, access or modification date.
The program has integrated scheduling and a very nice report generation feature. The interface really looks nice, it's well organized and clean. I strongly recommend this software to anyone that needs a boost in the PC performance.
O&O Defrag Professional is like its name says a professional disk defragmenter that optimizes your disk, saving space and minimizing the boot and program loading time. This software performed the best in my benchmark and I highly recommend it as the best commercial solution.
