Review:

I have mixed feelings about Image Recall 3. On the one hand, the software does what it claims to do. I’ve intentionally deleted photographs from my flash memory card, launched Image Recall 3 and bam, got my images back. So far, so good. Then, I pulled out my flash memory card, and tried to see, if the program would work with my camera’s built-in memory. It did indeed. Then I thought – how about may flash Nano player and mp3 files. Yep, even though the feature isn’t advertised, it recovers mp3 files. That’s very cool.

Ok, I started investigating Image Recall 3 a little bit further and uncovered more “unadvertised” features. One was an option to test memory card for errors. Did that. The second interesting option that I found was an option to securely delete all images from the memory card to the point that it can not be recovered by any means. I don’t really see a practical application for it, unless you are into home porn, voyerism or have some weird sexual fetish that you are hiding.

Ok, so why I had mixed feelings about Image Recall 3? Well, that’s because it claims to work “not only with deleted files, but formatted or corrupted media too.” I did not see any point in reformatting my camera or memory card, but I did have an old MMS card that quit working for some reason. It had pictures from our last Super Bowl party. I inserted it into my camera, hooked it up to my PC (via USB port) and guess what? Nada. Neither my PC nor Image Recall 3 “saw” that card. It just did not existed for them. So much for recovering files from “corrupted storage media”.

Conclusion:

If you accidentaly deleted some image and want it back, Image Recall 3 will do the trick. If you have some dead cards, use the demo version first, to see if you will be able to recover images.
