Ease of use
Did not clean my registry at all and did not find problems that existed. My computer was no different after using this.
I had an old computer that had taken me years to get set up exactly the way I wanted, and I didn’t want to change it. It got a bit slower and I continued, but when it became a lot slower I knew something had to be done.
I searched for reviews and comments on all types of registry cleaner and finally decided on “the most popular registry cleaner on the market”, Registry Mechanic. I was not expecting miracles, which is just as well, as I got nothing. Absolutely no change.
The first scan told me there was 39 “errors” and although I was surprised at this low figure, never having cleaned my registry, I was also delighted that I had managed to keep my computer so well maintained. These errors were fixed, but no speed was regained and neither was any space made – I had noted the bytes before the scan and it actually was 37 bytes bigger after these 39 items were removed or fixed, according to their type.
A week later Registry Mechanic informed me of 9 problems. This seemed high in just one week, especially in light of 6 years only bringing forth 37, but I duly fixed these too. No more errors showed up over the next 5-6 weeks, but my computer slowed down even more and I took it to an expert. There were nearly 300 “critical errors” and once these were fixed I got back my old friend, well and performing at a good speed.
Registry Mechanic neither found nor fixed my registry and an email asking for a refund was ignored.
I would not recommend this product to anyone and with so many free registry cleaners around the only good thing I can say is that I found it easy to use.
Even free Registry Mechanic would not be worth the money as it did not find or repair the problems on my computer.
