Review:

Any consumer who has Windows Vista or XP even, has no reason to purchase Aqua Deskexperiance. To be fair, it does indeed have a decent user interface, and present numerous options right at the user’s fingertips. Some of these features are already present in Mozilla’s Firefox web browser and Microsoft’s Paint & Office programs, while the others are already a part of the Windows environment itself. It takes these features and incorporates them in a single, easy to digest package, and then presents itself as something new and unheard of, and as a “must have” for the consumer, all for the low price of $13.45.

And therein lies the fundamental flaw with the program. Aqua Deskexperiance makes a point of being able to copy and paste, even when the options are not otherwise available through the usual drop down menus accessed via right clicking. It would have the user highlight a specific selection of text, and hold the control (Ctrl) key on the keyboard to accomplish this, thus copying the text. The problem is this feature is already enabled in the Windows environment. To do the exact same thing, without Aqua Deskexperiance, one would use hit the control and ‘C’ keys at the same time, thereby accomplishing the same task. The same goes for pasting the text, though the keyboard command is control plus the ‘V’ key.

The same holds true for the screenshot feature available in the program. That too is available on a keyboard by pushing the ‘Print Screen’ key in the upper right hand corner of the keyboard. One would then paste the file into Microsoft’s Paint program, or any other art program for that matter, using the above mentioned technique (Control + V) and would be able to edit it accordingly from there. The note taking feature is built into Windows Vista, the color copy feature is present in Microsoft Paint.

As for spell checking, it is a simple matter to right click a misspelled word in a web browser and auto correct it. Both Firefox and Internet Explorer have this capability. Any decent text editor would include spell checking. A good free example is the one that comes with the Open Office, or Microsoft Word Pad and Microsoft Works, which ship with XP and Vista respectively. In the case of translations, many websites exist which offer free online translations. This trend exists for every feature in Aqua Deskexperiance. There exists no reason to pay for such redundancy.

Conclusion:

It is not that Aqua Deskexperiance is a bad product, it is merely redundant. All of the highly toted features have already long since been implemented into the standard desktop environments.
