Review:

Typograf, a program I considered as being unnecessary at first glance surprisingly changed my mind once I used it and saw what it had to offer. As a college student taking courses in digital art I found this program to have more than what meets the eye. I was impressed by the extensive and in depth information about each typeface the program gives you. Knowing the copyright information, the corresponding font family, style, and font version will actually save time spent on the tedious task of making sure you know all the copyright information to be credited to the author once you've used it for a web layout or school project.

One of the many impressive features I found useful was the font classification menu that maps out the history of typefaces through out the course of time. This proves to be incredibly useful to students and myself studying digital art in the media who are normally required to take a class on Typography. Typography studies the elaboration of letter form in comparison to letter development in our present era. I could make great use of the mixing and matching fonts feature that teaches you which fonts you could match together that are really helpful in web development and commercial ad design. It allows for an easy transition though different fonts suited for a particular effect or feel that you are going for.

I was impressed by the program's detailed use of knowledge to educate the user showing that there's a history behind letter forms themselves, another plus for the student. Even the small tips offered in the headings of the menus taught me a few things I didn't know about some correlation between different styles.

Typograf's organization makes it incredibly easy for me to categorize fonts, compare, duplicate, and sort by size, author, and copyright. I have hundreds of fonts on my computer, this way I can see every one of them organized by style.

There have been many times that I've began working on a project involving fonts only to discover that the font I was set on using doesn't have the characters I need other than alpha numeric. The program's comparison tab can show which fonts are similar to the one I was using and which ones have the characters I need. The sample text will show me if it will work with my project before I have to start all over again. Of course this saves a lot of time which I don't have any to waste when other papers and projects are due. I enjoy that I can use every feature in this program. Ever bought a program and only used a few functions and then felt cheated because of the price? I can actually make use of this program and feel that I'm getting my money's worth.

Last but not least is the zoom feature. Because you never know if that size 32 font is going to look good blown up to a size 450. Easy to use and saves time.

Conclusion:

I'd recommend Typograf to anyone who just wants to organize their fonts to a student or for commercial business use.
