Alien Shooter Review
Alien Shooter great potential little substance
You can buy it at RegNow for that price.
It has a nice retro feel to the game.
Alien Shooter fails to live up to even low expectations. The character movement is awkward at best and frustrating at worst.
At first glance Alien Shooter took me back to the days of Wolfenstein Castle, and Duke Nukem, nothing beats your basic search and find with a whole lot of shoot em up action, and this appeared to fit that basic bill with out the need for a power pc and high end graphic cards. I liked the basic look of the game, and thought it had a lot of potential until I started playing it.
The movements of the shooter are very erratic and hard to control, his legs and his upper body appear to be in constant conflict over what he is doing and where he is going. There is nothing intuitive about his movements which no matter how hard I tried still appeared mostly random, to the point that just moving around a room became quite frustrating. This was made worse when the monsters appeared to have the same problem moving around.
This game was a roller coaster in that when I first tried it I had low expectations, but in the opening segments up to actually playing the game I started to get a little excited and thought that it might actually have some potential. Then I started to play it and was gravely disappointed.
With a little more development time this game could have been very good, but as it stands I find it hard to recommend to anyone.
