StickyNote - A Beautiful Creature
You can buy it at RegNow for that price.
Visually appealing, easy to learn, accomplishes its intended purpose very effectively.
Notes are large and can cause clutter easily.
This is a wonderful little program. While there are a few minor details that could be ironed out here or there, on the whole this application is very useful and fills its intended purpose quite well.
The interface is easy to learn and is quite user-friendly; it took five minutes, maximum, to discover everything this little application had to offer. Everything is laid out and quickly accessible. New notes can be made in only a couple of key presses, and their style and design can be shuffled around with minimal (if any) annoyance. The program can use any of the fonts installed on your system as well, making it hassle-free to organize notes by colour, text, or both.
Other interesting features of this product include the ability to add alarms of your choosing to particular notes. This could have quite an extensive use, as one might wish to use certain tones for certain tasks; that is, a trumpet when it is time to get ready for work, or maybe a clip of a television theme when it is time for that show to start. Also is the ability to add attachments to notes, making it easy to keep track of web links without cluttering the bookmarks folder, or deep-buried files without the need for shortcuts or clicking through the entire system to find it. Friends are also able to connect and send notes to each other, having the possibility of keeping individuals in touch with their schedules, clubs in contact without the hassle of message boards or IM, and businesses on track without the mess of paper notes and mini-memorandums.
The main drawback of StickyNote is the inability to resize the 3D notes. While the notes' size is adequate to display the 3D effect and have plenty of room for text, they do take up quite a bit of space, which may irritate users. Currently, all 3D notes are of one basic size, with the program forcing another note "stuck" to the bottom of the first one to continue messages too long for just one (and thereby taking up quite a bit more room). A resizing option might allow more notes in a smaller space, allowing the user to choose if he or she wants the entire message available, or just a small note of the message visible (requiring a click to see the entire thing, of course, but much more manageable than having fifty full-sized notes scattered about).
Still, even with the notes being quite bulky, the program is really quite useful. If you're someone who loves having notes stuck around instead of bland text files or neat notes (I certainly do at times!), this program is sure to win you over. The possibilities for this application reach a wide range, from individual students to networked businesses. The price certainly isn't anything to complain about; it isn't the cheapest program ever written, of course, but the functionality and appealing nature of it make it worthwhile to consider.
All in all, this is a very nice little program with only a few minor drawbacks. I would recommend it to anyone who likes keeping notes around.
