Puzzle Express Review
Puzzle Express: “Now Boarding for Boston“!
You can buy it at RegNow for that price.
When you lose, you begin again from level one. No pause or mirror image capability.
“Hideously” addictive.
Even though I am horrible at geometry I love a good mathematical challenge so I play a lot of puzzle games. I often play a new game with as few instructions as possible. Ok, maybe this seems like an unwise choice on my part, but it does make simple games a bit more difficult.
Because I did this with Puzzle Express, it took me a while to figure out where to get single blocks, a bit longer to learn not to waste too many of them, and even more time to grasp how quickly they disappear if you use the cargo return.
Although the Scenic mode has no timer, once that conveyer belt is filled up it’s back to the train depot. There is no way to mirror image the puzzle piece, making it a bit more “tetrissy “ than most puzzle games. The Express mode “punishes” you by taking away seconds if you use the cargo return; good news if you enjoy a time battle; bad news for the uncoordinated. And having to beat your previous time makes it even tougher.
This is a very challenging and addictive game. In the brief time I played it, I never made it past Boston. I liked it so much that after the trial period was up, I went to my nearest game site to see if I could master it a bit more. I could only play the Express mode but I still don’t think I could have gotten out of town.
Puzzle Express is extremely entertaining and I highly recommend it if you like this category of gaming.
