Cactus Bruce And The Corporate Monkeys Review
Cactus Bruce provides good, mindless fun
You can buy it at RegNow for that price.
Easy to learn and control. Good art direction. Slightly addictive. Several game options. Inexpensive.
Repetitive. Not challenging enough. Annoying music. Nothing very original here.
The first thing you'll notice when playing Cactus Bruce and the Corporate Monkeys is how mindlessly addictive this cute litte games can become. It's perfect for people who need to kill a little time at the office or at the DMV on thier laptop.
The story involves a group of ruthless capitalistic monkeys who are hell bent on taking over Cactus Bruce's island, wiping out all the trees and building some kind of banana plantation facotry. Well Cactus Bruce (yes, he is a cactus) will have none of this, and is determined to stop the takeover with his launching weapon.
Throughout the game you'll be able to destroy countless monkeys, throw coconuts, and all sorts of random objects, while at the same time sabotaging the progress of your enemies.
There are different play experiences to choose from as well, my favorite being the Challenge mode where a player has to destroy 14 structures in a short amount of time.
I liked the art direction of Cactus Bruce and the Corporate Monkeys, even though it was bordering on overly cute although I certainly could have done without the annoying music. I also liked the easy controlls, however the limits on how one can execute moves does tend to bemome a bit boring and repetitive.
And that brings me to the biggsst problem I had with this game.
It gets to be tremendously monotonous after about 15 minutes.
Sure, there is a bit of humour, but that also wears thin really fast.
It is only $19.95 to download though, and for those times when you need mindess distraction, this is perfect.
Worth $19.95, however there are many better games out there for that price. More suited for pre-teens. Very entertaining for about 15 - 20 minutes.
