BrickShooter Review
Somewhat challenging, but monotonous
You can buy it at RegNow for that price.
Easy to learn, challenging, game saving and multiplayer for up to five people possible in registered version, several background songs available
Tedious, some rules of the game are nonsensical, price is too high for such a simple game
BrickShooter is easy enough to learn. There are ten rows of three squares on each side of the grid, and each game starts with a number of randomly placed squares already on the grid. Clicking a movable square will cause it to move across the grid until it hits another square. If you get three or more squares of the same color together in an L-shape, vertically, or horizontally, those squares will disappear and you receive points. When squares disappear, the other squares move according to their arrows until they hit other squares or the edge of the grid.
For some strange reason, only squares that will hit other squares that are ON the grid are manually movable (able to be moved by clicking), which is nonsensical considering that squares can and will move when other squares disappear even when there are no squares on the grid that would be hit.
BrickShooter does exercise your mind, as you need to examine the colors around the grid to determine which squares to move and when. However, the game is too tedious to be much fun, unless you’re the type of person who is easily addicted to disappearing bricks and increasing points. The appearance of the game is nothing special, which wouldn’t matter if the game were more enjoyable, but it isn’t.
The background music consists of several songs which can be changed at will. Though rather odd, these songs easily blend into the background, which could be good or bad depending on how much you want to notice the music while playing.
For $19.95, you can play this somewhat addictive, though monotonous game for more than 15 days, become able to save your precious game, play against up to four of your best buddies and then make them jealous by making the BrickShooter Hall of Fame.
Hardcore puzzle fans will find this game somewhat enjoyable. Everyone else will eventually grow bored of it.
