Less Scanning time as compared to other famous softwares It takes low memory in the background and hence does not affect the system performance while scanning. Very easy interface to use. The buttons are very simple to use. The cost is very cheap. 2nd cheapest popular anti virus software in the market The virus definitions are available after every hour Has all the major features which other anti virus softwares in the market don't have.
Definitely not the best anti virus engine in the market. It has often failed to detect important and harmful Trojan viruses meant times. A few times, it has failed to disinfect the system files affected with Trojans and hence I had to delete those system files and later format my computer. Whereas my current anti virus software detected every Trojan. Sometimes, automatic update may not work ( but this can be rectified) The webmail protection feature is not present.
FIrstly,
The series of Bitdefender Antivirus and Antispywares become famous after their product called Bitdefender 7. This product was regarded as the best product for that year by numerous magazines. Since then, this product is consistently ranked number one.
However, what I believe is that this product has lost its aggresiveness towards the virus scans which it used to have.
I wouldn't trust the rankings because these rankings are also based on the number of features a software has. This software has many new features which other softwares in the market don't have. But the antivirus engine of this software, which is the main structure for any anitvirus software, is not the best in the market.. Its just average ( or probably above average)
I have used all the version of this product ( Bitdefender 7,8,9,10)
I was very much impressed with Bitdefender 7 and 8. But After Bitdefender 9 and 10 were released, I started hating it.
The antivirus engine of Bitdefender 9 is now definitely NOT the best in the market. this matters a lot because it controls the ability of any anti virus software towards deeper root kit scans and file virus detections.
Previous versions Bitdefender 7 and 8 had the best antivirus engines for 2 straight years. But Bitdedender 9 isnt simply the best.
To conclude, I would rate this software as 3rd best software in the market. I dont know whether I am allowed to name the other softwares or not, but those softwares provide a better value for money.
