The Broken voice.
I guess my grandmother wouldn’t mind using this tool since she has a hard time remembering where she keeps her glasses. This time she just would need to turn on ‘NewsAloud’. Lo and behold… she has someone reading out the news/articles for her. But then, I am pretty sure she has heard of something called the radio or the television. Only thing is that here she can make the ‘robot’ read news that she wants from a selected set of web pages.
Newsaloud can bring in some cheer to the persons occupied with other activities as well while they are doing their regular work on the pc, but it can get a little annoying after some time. Maybe once you have made sure that you are acquainted with the voice, you may enjoy it.
It has an option to go to its website Nextup.com where the existing voice can be changed/modified to suit your requirement and pace but then I am not sure if it is going to be any better.
The software has yet to evolve completely where you feel someone is actually reading an article than just throwing words at you.
