Certified by ICSA Labs, BitDefender 9 Professional Plus is certainly a piece of software that should not go unnoticed. Bitdefender 9 has shaped up pretty well since its first release, not just in looks but also in the effectiveness department. Installation was very easy which was initiated by an install wizard. Like in most security suites, Bitdefender 9 professional 9 Plus includes the following: Anti-virus, Firewall, Anti-spyware, and an Anti-Spam module.
The antivrus sector does a pretty good job, but because of its real-time scanner, it tends to chew threw a bit of memory and does slow the PC down.
The firewall is excellent, allowing easy access to open and close ports for applications and doesn't annoy the user too much with firewall permissions.
Spyware is taken care of with Bitdefender's anti-spyware module, allowing you to do quick scan or do a full system check depending on how much time you have. It picked up most of the spyware that I had infected on my PC but I did have to use another 3rd party software to get rid of the rest.
Spam is something that no one likes, and Bitdefender does it's best to block spam out. There were a few false positives when i tested it, but were ironed out once I added them to the whitelist.
In summary, BitDefender 9 Professional Plus for me as a tech savy was a pleasure to use, despite its minor implications. A performance enthusiast is probably not going to like it very much, but for the basic home user, it should work just fine. I'm giving it four stars out of five, because this is a great piece of software, but there is always room for improvement.
