Wide range of formats to convert to/from, easy to use interface.
Cons:
Sometimes slow, audio doesn't always properly sync with video.

I've used WinAVI Video Convertor to convert videos to be played on my DVD player and computers that do not support DivX.

One thing I like about this program is the wide range of formats you can convert from and to. It even supports DivX and XviD!

I've noticed I get the best results with this program setting the quality to 90%, but if you have a fast computer, it may work fine with higher. I've also had a few times when the audio wasn't synced with the converted video properly (someone would say something after their lips started moving on the screen), but that can be fixed by re-converting it.

All in all, I would recommend WinAVI for small video conversion jobs. Anything over 200MB or 45 minutes of video will take a while to convert.

Conclusion:

Good for small jobs or if you're very patient.
