Webroot Spy Sweeper Review
One of the best antispyware programs out there
You can buy it at RegNow for that price.
User friendly, very powerful, almost no crashes and bugs.
Long scan times, you have to pay for it.
I bought Spy Sweeper a few months ago to aid in the removal of one particularly pesky threat that my other programs simply were not removing. Spy Sweeper did a pretty good job at removing it, too, with only limited "cleanup" by me - deleting certain leftover files, and registry keys, etc. It detects a good deal of things the free programs won't, and it keeps itself up to date without being downright annoying. The only gripe I have with it is that the scans take what seems to be an unnecissarily long time, even if you close background tasks. However, that might be at least partially due to my own impatience.
Now, although I may be a bit more advanced than the average user, a monkey could probably set up Spy Sweeper - provided a credit card to buy it. Though I am mostly against having to pay for my computer's safety, this is the best program to get the job done.
The optional real time protection is possibly the best part. It runs silently in the background, protecting you from incoming threats that may have gotten past your firewall. This is great for all kinds of annoying little mishaps - inadvertant clicks, accidentally opening a seemingly harmless link, etc. It saves you the time of removing adware and spyware later, because it dosen't even have a chance.
I have a decent computer - not high end, not low end - and I have experienced little slowdown from the program. There is some while it is scanning, but otherwise it runs quite smoothly and quietly in the background. The user interface is nice and easy to understand. There are almost no annoying bugs or crashes. The pop up notifications are simple and informative without being irksome. Overall, the whole thing is very user friendly.
If you're going to pay for anti virus protection, by all means go with this program. It is one of the best programs I have ever encountered in my never ending search for my computer's safety.
