Outpost Firewall Pro Review

Outpost Firewall Pro is quite a nice firewall with features that add many possibilities, it includes pop-up blocking, blocking for images and a monitor that studies network activity and much more.

Much to my delight, setting up Outpost Firewall Pro was a pleasure, not only is it very easy to install, it should be fine for even new users to configure settings and change rules if the assigned ones do not satisfy as they are presented cleanly through a mostly well thought out interface.

If you have used previous versions of Outpost Firewall Pro before, you will be happy to know that the interface is better than ever before, it is easy to navigate, control and command. The firewall also has good performance compared to its competitors although I would not consider overall protection to be this programs strong point as tests showed varying degrees of performance. Outpost Firewall Pro comes equip with modes that are useful in different situations. For example, there is a mode called "entertainment" that was specially designed to allow solid protection while doing something you don't want to be disturbed at, like watching your latest copy of Star Trek or playing Half-Life 2.

I was most impressed, however at how efficient Outpost Firewall Pro was in regards to memory usage, in this area performance was better then expected, at most it would used 16MB of RAM which is quite outstanding in a field occupied by the likes of Nortan and other vendors of firewall applications who design products that constantly run with much much higher usage, almost to the point of when your firewall becomes a distraction.

Overall, this is a stellar performer that will do well for any individual or small business consumer, it is suitable for newcomers to the security world but also great for the adventurous type that just have to adjust everything to the state of perfectness.
