BrickShooter Review
Far From Amusing
You can buy it at RegNow for that price.
a nostalgic feeling, requires logical thinking
bad visual effects, becomes boring after a while, requires a high price.
BrickShooter is an arcade game - an attempt to re-create the original puzzle games that emerged about two decades ago. The concept is quite simple - clear all the bricks in the middle to advance to the next level. Smart and addictive idea - just as in the 20th century games. Yet, the fulfilment is far from amusing.
The first thing I noticed when I downloaded and istalled the game was the GameAlbum shortcut to a webpage where the user could download additional games. But I ticked the box not to install any other things except the game. The developers should not deceive people in a such a cheap way.
I started the game and my first impression was rather disappointing. You jump directly into the game - the menu is implemented in the playscreen. An original idea, yes. But badly accomplished. The buttons are ribbed, with no visual effects and a plain font. Some of them are quite small and thus unreadable. The music is polyphonic and annoying - a meagre attempt to imitate the arcade games music back in time.
The game, apart from all these flaws, is quite entertaining. It requires logical thought and ability to see things going in advance. It can't keep you hours in front of the PC, but it is quite good to relax a bit and then attend to your business.
And here comes the big shock - the games costs 19.95$ if downloaded and 29.95 if shipped on a CD. To require that amount of money for such a plain game is pointless. There are many more play'n'pay games, offered via the Internet that offer much more excitement and fun, with better conception, with a smoother outlook and visual effects. I recommend finding them.
A game, developed to rip off some cash from the users without giving the required amusement in return. Stay away.
