FaceFilter Studio Review
A little bit of fun
You can buy it at RegNow for that price.
Quick to install Wizard-based, so you don't need a lot of technical knowledge
Interface could do with labels for the buttons Limited use - more fun than serious
Face Filter Studio is one of those programs which is fun to play with, but I can't see a lot of practical use for it.
Installation is quick and easy - mine took one minute to install the trial version, which is usable for 15 days.
The interface is clearly laid out, but a little confusing. All the function buttons are labelled with an icon, but no text, so that you really have to try them to see what they do. I would imagine that this becomes intuitive after you've used the software a few times, though.
The program allows you to upload a photo, rotate and resize it, then add various adjustments to the face. The software will auto-detect the face, but you have the option to fine-tune it if you want. From there on, most adjustments will be made with a template - these include skin colour, red-eye, face shape, and various pre-made expressions.
I found that the expressions tended to be a little false. Where this product is useful is for face shaping, skin toning and smoothing. Applied with a light touch, these adjustments look quite natural. There are some custom adjustments available, but these are very limited.
Conclusion: not for the serious photo restorer/enhancer, but fine for making very small adjustments, or for having fun turning your friends into evil aliens!
At this price, probably worth buying for its fun value, but not enough features for the more serious user.
