Xeno Assault 2 Review
A Nostalgic Game For 1942 Fans

Great theme music and good gameplay
mediocre remake of 1942 and bland enemy artwork
Despite the fact that this game has been reformatted and repackaged countless times I started the game with an open mind. The first thing I had noticed (which was also the first thing that had appeared on screen) was the fact that the game allowed you to choose the resolution at which that game was displayed before you started the game as opposed to entering the options screen in-game and changing the screen resolution from there which usually requires the game to restart. After selecting my screen resolution the title screen appeared. The electric guitar theme is impressive, I really didn’t expect any kind of theme music at all but this was extremely well done! I started the first level on easy and I was glad to discover that the ship you control is moved using the mouse and not the directional buttons, you also can shoot by clicking the left mouse button. Game play is fun at first but eventually you might start wishing you were playing 1942 on the Nintendo Entertainment System. The enemies are a bit bland apart from the bosses which are quite creative. Overall the whole game seems like it is entangled in a vortex of rip-offs and remakes of the same game and this particular variant falls somewhere in the middle. Xeno Assault 2 is not a bad game but there have been much better remakes particularly the console based ones (PS3,XBOX 360) That being said, I give this game a 3/5 Stars for its music, its gameplay , and for the screen resolution option.
