XoftSpy Review

With technology changing its face every day, it has become essential to guard oneself against the vagaries of the technology. This assumes even more significance if there is a threat to one’s invaluable data. Many soft wares are available in the market today. However, one has to be cautious while buying the software especially data protection software.

Paretologic introduced Xsoftspy, which claims to detect spy ware and adware which could infect your computer. We will examine the features step-by-step.

I ran Xsoftspy in my infected PC, though it did succeed in detecting the spyware and adware, I found its detection rate a bit low, it failed to detect all the spyware which I found through TRENDMICRO. The software certainly needs improvisation in detection capabilities.

I was intrigued by the fact that Xsoftspy did not offer protection from spyware and adware entering my system. This feature is crucial if I want to protect my PC from possible threats. I could not rely on Xsoftspy to protect my PC. Another thing I noticed which is very important is that Xsoftspy even put my legitimate files under suspicious category!!!!

This point was well covered by Trend Micro. If I acted on advice of Xsoftspy and removed the files, there is little doubt; I would have caused serious harm to my PC. I would put Xsoftspy as unreliable on this front. Better cross check with leaders and take the decision to act on the advice of this software.

Usability:
I found the interface user friendly, but what bugged me was once I started scan, I could not stop even if I wanted to. The developers need to give this power to users and not act arbitrarily. However as far as feature set goes, I guess it offers standard features like scheduler, scan options etc. As I said the interface is easy so it does not require a genius to install the software.

Overall though the software is user friendly and easy to use the thing most lacking or needs improvisation is protection from every type of spyware and adware. Also the fact that I cannot rely on Xsoftspy for adware removal for fear of losing my legitimate files and harming my PC makes me wary of this software. Certainly, there are better choices available.
