PaintBuster Review
Functional, but pricey beyond belief
You can buy it at RegNow for that price.
Easy to use, fair feature set, clean installer
very pricey, free competitors, slightly outdated interface
From my time with PaintBuster, it seemed squarely aimed at those who had graduated from the tomfoolery of Paint, but didn't have the money for Photoshop, (nor the experience).
The installer for the program runs cleanly, with no unwanted "extras" installed alongside, and the program opens to an intuitive, but slightly aged interface.
The tools and features on offer range from simple brushes and stamp tools to create pieces from scratch, to tools such as sharpen and clone, for modification of existing works and photographs. When looked at alone, it seems reasonable value for money when you see the power on offer.
However, free alternatives such as Artweaver offer similar power, (indeed Artweaver is a Photoshop clone), while costing nothing compared to the steep $35 price tag. Also, tools such as Paint.NET and the GNU Image Manipulation Program (the GIMP) offer similar power again, for free.
So while the program may convince novice buyers with relative ease of use and feature set, there are better (and free) alternatives elsewhere.
