New Software To Be Reviewed Review
Potion Bar : Tried and Tested
You can buy it at RegNow for that price.
Pros : Easy gameplay, great graphics, mellow sounds, storyline
Cons : Advanced gamers may find it too easy, no widescreen support.
One of the first games I saw when I ventured into the New Games category on the Alawar Games website was Potion Bar. The name itself was interesting enough to compel me to try it, not me mention the 1 hour of free gameplay that you get to check out if the games is as good as it looks.
According to the creator, the game features:
• 35 increasingly challenging levels!
• Five beautiful locations!
• Smoothly integrated mini-games!
• Engage storyline and vivid characters!
• Refreshing blend of mystery and humor
Let’s see how these work out.
The installation procedure was pretty simple and fast. If you download this game as your first from Alawar Games, an optional GameBox installation option is present at the end of the 1st installation.
On starting the game, an orange bar shows how much free game time you have left. This will of course disappear once you purchase the full version.
You begin the game with a short introductory story well balanced so as not to bore you and yet does not leave you clueless either. A nice quirky cat (owned by a witch) shows you around and teaches you how to make drinks by adding ingredients and selling other stuff available in the bar to the customers that enter at regular intervals. You level up with the amount of money you make and the number of customers you serve simultaneously increases and so does the complexity of the process of making the drink.
For a bare minimum of the 53 Mbs installation file size, the game offers stunning graphics and a mild soft music score in the background that never irritates. Options allow you to change the volume but sadly there was no support for my 1366x768 pixels screen. It supports only 1280x800 or lower. While running the game used around 250 Mbs of RAM and did not stress my processor much. You can easily pause and minimize to do other stuff or run other music in background while muting this one provided you have the bare minimum configuration.
The gameplay was pretty basic requiring you to only move the mouse and click. Even beginners will get the hang of it very fast. The game is never so difficult so as to make it frustrating and has good backgrounds and a variety of different characters that keep up your interest.
Finally, on a scale of 5
Gameplay : 4.5
Graphics : 4
Sound : 5
Compatibility : 4
Accessibility : 5
Note : As a promotion you get 30% off if you gift this game to someone. Sounds good
Conclusion : Get your money’s worth out of this one.
