Review:

The best thing about PDF files is that they're portable, can be easily sent around, can be opened on all platforms and can be opens straight from the web. However, the problem is that they're generally non-editable, which means you can't change the contents of the file.

Here is where Infix PDF Editor comes into play. Infix PDF Editor allows users to modify the contents of PDF files - it allows people to edit the text of the files, to add or delete pictures to the PDF file and to add notes to files.

Needless to say, Infix PDF Editor is also a PDF viewer, and a very capable on at that. Its response time is slightly superior to that of Adobe PDF Reader 7 and allows visualization of all PDF document types.

The user interface of Infix PDF Editor is very simple to use. All the tools are nicely and conveniently categorized so that it is easy to choose between the view, edit and annotate features of the application. Sometimes the tooltips that are meant to explain the functions of the tools don't pop up, which does leave the user to experiment with the function or leave it alone.

Infix PDF Editor also comes with an included printer that people can use to print documents in PDF format and save to drive for later viewing or editing.

A feature that is advertised for the Infix PDF Editor is its post-processing OCR-correction capabilities. Whereas it does allow you to manually edit the PDF files after OCR has been performed and a PDF file generated, users aren't going to get any additional tools to help them with that task.

It's also quite important to note that the recognition software isn't perfect. It tends to separate the first line of text from the rest of the text of a paragraph, thus creating two text boxes - which complicates the editing process.

Also, Infix PDF Editor does not support transparency with PNG files, which limits the types of images that you can insert into the PDF.

Finally, Infix PDF Editor does a great job at recreating the fonts used in the PDF file.

Conclusion:

Infix PDF Editor is a good product that can be used for editing the text in PDFs and removing the occasional image.
